Sam Scheuermann (1994, NL) has a cross-disciplinary artistic practice that probes the mechanisms of looking, framing, and the politics of spectatorship. Through a performative approach she examines the seemingly neutral apparatuses of observation—not as static tools, but as generative systems that actively produce experience, presence, and relationality. By working site-responsive, she navigates apparent contradictions between the live and the mediated, the visible and the visual, stillness and continuation, presence and absence. Her work can be seen as an invitation to inhabit the now, that is, constantly slipping away.

Sam recently completed her Master’s at DAS Theatre in Amsterdam, following earlier studies in directing at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. Her work has been presented in spaces such as Veem House for Performance, Theater aan Zee, Over het IJ Festival, Festival Cement, Dutch Design Week, This Art Fair, TAC, and Theater Kikker.
